The light bar was experimental and had a scissors jack mechanism that would raise the lights in the air for increased visibility by approaching cars.

that is a deep fried twinkie eater right there. They gave him a car so he wouldn't have to run after kids. Did they even have standards of physical fitness in Louisiana?

  1. I visited Japan for the first time last year and noticed many of their Police cars had slightly bulbous lights on the roof as well. Only when I returned home and looked into them on the net did I discover they also elevate using a scissor mechanism!

  2. Police cars in Japan run a scissor lift light bar like that, just a bit smaller and more efficient....kinda like their take on the club sandwich.

I recall seeing these back in the day. Mostly used on traffic accident units.

  6. someone commented on the twinkie eater. In Louisiana up till the early 90's getting a state police job was more who you knew that what you knew. Things finally changed though I have to say this was an out-sized example. The guy was prob a Lt. or Capt. and the pic is early 70's. By early 80's they had basic fitness requirements. Some still fudged but this was unheard of by then. I cringe every time I see that pic.
