Flop Gear is rid of Chris Evans... shouty man got the message, he quit last night as ratings continue to slide down the drain

He tweeted: "Stepping down from Top Gear. Gave it my best shot but sometimes that's not enough. "I feel like my standing aside is the single best thing I can now do to help the cause." His resignation comes after falling ratings for the show - which hit a series low on Sunday night, with an average of 1.9 million viewers.

  1. Hip. Hip Hooray! The producers might be rethinking their decision to drop the original show.

  2. They've just started promoting the show on free-to-air TV in Australia, so obviously it hasn't begun airing yet. Interestingly, Chris Evans isn't even in the promos! I'm curious as to whether they've cut him out of the footage from the actual episodes too!

    2. Oddly enough, BBC America runs the heck out of the old Top Gear and not much of the new one. Granted there are many more of the old ones, but still. Even though Clarkson could be annoying from time to time I liked when he drove a car if it was poor (or just plain bad) he did not hesitate to slam it. The American guy seemed a strange choice given that it is a British show.

    3. the American guy really struck me as a strange choice too. He has never been known as a car guy, has never been in a car movie or tv show, and never been in the news as being at a car event (like Goodwood, Pebble Beach) or at a race track racing his own cars. So, how did he get good enough to place the highest on the old Top Gear celebrity in a reasonably priced car? It's a mystery to me. He seems to have been a hit on Flop Gear though. Keep something in mind though, that often helps me understand why some people are in front of a camera... they are the only ones that could be found and who would accept the pay to do that gig.
