Ron Schroer built the Bone Shaker Big Wheel

The Boneshaker Big Wheel is a wooden kinetic sculpture that combines the big front wheel of a penny-farthing bicycle and an articulating “walking” drive system inspired by the Strandbeest sculptures of artist Theo Jansen. It can be pedaled by a rider much like a penny-farthing.

Artist Ron Schroer created the sculpture for the 2014 OneSpark festival in Jacksonville, Florida.

  1. Fascinating! the articulated feet almost appear to be "moonwalking" when he changes direction.
