Indian 3 wheelers with Curtis 5th wheel trailers

New security for bicycle parts that are frequently stolen seats and tires

While many companies have sought to release products that protect a cyclist's property by attempting to lock an entire bike, few have focused on the all too common issue of thieves taking easily accessible parts, such as wheels and seats. The C3N offers a more conscientious approach to avoiding a stolen bike by locking crucial elements with easy-to-carry locks.

a new theory on why young people aren't buying cars

It’s no secret the percentage of new vehicles sold to 18- to 34-year-olds has significantly dropped over the past few years. Many argue this is the result of a weak economy, that the idea of making a large car investment and getting into more debt on top of college loans is too daunting for them. But that’s not the "driving" factor, especially considering that owning a smartphone or other mobile device, with its monthly fees of network access, data plan, insurance, and app services, is almost comparable to the monthly payments required when leasing a Honda Civic.

What auto manufacturers, along with much of corporate America are missing here is that the vehicles to freedom and personal identity have changed for this generation.

Of all the things that irritate me, this really pushes my button. An endless string of appreciative tumblrs running my photo, and not crediting me as photographer, nor getting the name Parnelli Jones spelled right. Idiots!

Above found on http://outsidethecubicle.tumblr.com/post/91605614423/musclecardreaming-parnelli-jones-ford-with-a#notes

Here's my original photo below, just to prove I took the photo. At the Escondido cruise night that is a Friday night event all summer long, just about 30 minutes north of San Diego.

From the post I did in 2008: http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2008/04/this-awesome-mustang-now-has-dedicated.html

And since the first guy to copy my photo didn't bother adding a note to his Tumblr post, none of the rest of the people that reposted it could learn where the car and hauler were from, who make them, and eventually, that Wes sold them. Neither of these are more than 10 years old, Wes had a passion for the project were he envisioned having a Boss 302 just like Parnelli drove, on a race car hauler that would be a perfect match.

I took galleries of this car and hauler several times, and you can see all the detail photos, if you like, by clicking on this link: http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search/label/Les%20Werling%27s%20recreation%20of%20the%20Parnelli%20Jones%20SCCA%20Mustang

the truck started out looking like this:

and Muscle Car Review even featured the combo hauler and race car in the July 2008 issue

and update Feb 2019, I just found a photo taken at the same time of it from across the street

This week I eclipsed my previous record for # of posts in a year (2446)

So I'm curious how much that matters to my regular readers, some, little or none. Can you believe I've done it while adding 3 other websites to the internet? @ about Comic Con costumes http://isurvivedthehallhline.blogspot.com/ and http://isurvivedthehallhline.tumblr.com/
and one tumblr about the cool design and aesthetics of interior design of homes http://designandstyleathome.tumblr.com/.

It's now been nearly 8 years since I began this site... and 3 years ago I started http://isonlyskindeep.tumblr.com/

I'm also wondering how many posts I'll add before New Years Eve, setting the next record # of posts.

US Marshalls seized a car collection, and are auctioning off some fine muscle cars

I think there can be no disagreement that a Yenko 1969 Camaro and 1970 Yenko Chevelle, plus a Boss 429 Mustang and a Hemi Superbird is a rock solid car collection.

David Nicoll was a scheming New Jersey crook that was president of New Jersey’s Biodiagnostic Laboratory Services (BlS), Nicoll bribed over a dozen doctors to send blood samples to his company to test, all while billing Medicare for the bogus work. Between 2006 and 2012, his scheme bankrolled an astounding $200 million for BLS, and earned him a reported $33 million, which he spent on cars, strippers, and season tickets to the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets.

the auction results from the Sept 12th event:
1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird                                          575,000
1970 Ford Mustang, BOSS 429                                          285,000
1967 Ford Mustang, Shelby GT 500                                   170,000
1969 Chevrolet Yenko Chevelle, 2 Door Hardtop              237,500
1969 Chevrolet Yenko Nova, 2 Door                                  400,000
1969 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro                                            315,000
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle, Malibu Convertible                      70,000
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle, Super Sport 454 LS6 V8             155,000
1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda (mid-restoration)                     347,000

WW2 British bomb unearthed on the flight path at Frankfurt Intl Airport, and safely detonated

he remnant of World War II was found by a crew working on the flight path at Frankfurt Airport, and authorities immediately took safety precautions as the unexploded ordinance had a blast radius of 300 meters (or roughly 984 ft.).

When the bomb was eventually detonated (an earlier attempt to diffuse the bomb failed), it left a 20-meter-wide crater. Not surprisingly, given the bomb’s proximity (and now the crater’s proximity) to the A3 outside of Offenbach, traffic has been diverted and severe congestion has followed.

Believe it or not, a Viper from the tv show is still floating around car collectors

Found on http://jeepchryslerdodgeflorida.com/2013/05/ebay-find-of-the-day-viper-defender-from-90s-tv-show/

According to the listing, this car is the real deal - not a clone - and it comes with a V8 engine (not sure what happened to the V10?) and plenty of swag and memorbilia. No word on its actual asking price, but the reserve has not been met at $133,400. The listing does add that this same car was listed at Mecum back in 2010, but did not get sold, even with a bid of $270,000. Greedy seller trying to retire maybe.

Photos from http://www.autoblog.com/photos/viper-tv-show-star-car/

John used the comment function to add "They wanted automatic transmissions in the TV cars for stunts and some shooting. The actor who played the main character also could not drive stick, so every car on the show was converted to a 360 V8 with an automatic gearbox. "

A couple cool and unusual vehicles on the "Rambler Ranch" of Terry Gale I haven't posted before

Evolution of the bicycle

A 1 min animation of the bicycle's evolution, all the way from the wooden horse to the modern racer. The video was made in combination with an application to the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, 2013. Animation : Thallis Vestergaard Music : Flying Home by The Benny Goodman Sextet

The bicycle has changed a lot from its beginnings in Germany as a pedal-free "dandy horse," which is basically just a plank of wood with two wheels (you move by running along like a Flintstones car). The animation shows the two-wheeled vehicle's design from the dandy horse as it gains pedals and gears, as the wheels change sizes (with a brief stop at the penny-farthing, the ultimate in absurd modes of transport), and finally to our modern road bike.
