WW2 training film about the superchargers that allowed for high altitude flying with B17 and B24





GE first tested them on airplane engines in 1914 when they mounted one on a Liberty piston engine and ran it at the top of Pikes Peak, 14,000ft above sea level to measure the loss of power due to thin air at elevation/altitude.

 The Liberty made 400hp on the ground and 285hp at the top of Pikes peak, but with the supercharger, it made 410hp at the top of the mountain!
